The English Garden Bed and Breakfast is located in the heart of the Historic Stockade Distict of Schenectady. The home was built in 1775 by wealthy fur traders of their day. The English Garden was built as a Ferderal and in the 1800's Victorian architecture was added. The home is decorated with fine antiques throughout and can accomodate dinner parties, small intimate weddings in the Ball Room (Federal Style) or Tea Room. The Tea Room has the original wood beams from 1775 and plank flooring. The Inn is a 5000 square foot home with many hidden features or nooks and crannies. Host is accomodating to suggestions and can supply linens, silverware, flowers etc. to accomodate your budget.

The guest rooms include both private bath or shared bath with queen size beds. Suites are available and single bed can be placed in room for additional guests.

The cost of the rooms includes a full course breakfast; coffee, tea, juice, choice of quiche, or frittata or french toast, homemade breakfast breads, yogurt and fresh fruit in season.

The Inn is located five blocks from Union College, less than a mile from General Electric and a few miles from the Albany Airport. The Historic Saratoga race track and city are within a thirty minute drive. Activities to enjoy are sightseeing the Stockade area with the historic residences, bike along the bike path with the Mohawk River at your side, Saratoga Springs with the antique shops and the historic race track, the baths, Saratoga Perfoming Arts Center, golfing, skiing, hiking etc. The Inn is twenty minutes from Albany, the Capitol with museums and summer concerts.

The Stockade is one of the oldest neighborhoods preserved through the 17th, 18th centuries until present. Steeped in history - George Washington could have slept here - from the Dutch arrival in 1635 our area's rich history is well preserved over the centuries.

Rates range from $98 to $145 depending upon size of room. A deposit is necessary in advance to hold a room, cash or personal check welcome.

The English Garden also has a shop that includes beautiful antiques, fine linens and china.
